Fiona: Our Unicorn
We visited a rescue after friends had such a great adoption story of a dog from Puerto Rico and after seeing a dog that piqued our interest. We arrived at the rescue and had to walk past every available dog to get to the dog we came to see. After asking some questions and learning this particular dogs story, we knew that she wasn't going to be a match for us. At the very beginning of all of the dogs sat one quiet, calm and adorable dog, labeled as Plott Hound Mix. She had just been brought up to the floor hours before we arrived. She was not making a single whimper or barking and was sitting at her kennel door. We took her out of her kennel for a 'meet and greet' and she rolled over for belly rubs and gently crawled into each of our laps. We knew at that very moment we had found our Unicorn, Fiona. Her story remains a mystery to us (if only she could tell us), but we do know she was rescued from a kill shelter in Alabama. She has so much life and love in her that we feel it is us that has been rescued in so many ways since Fiona entered our lives.
